The 20th IBRCThe 20th IBRC brings together over 400 participants working in bat research, conservation and management.
The conference will include an exciting program of talks, posters and workshops on a wide range of bat-related topics, presented by speakers from around the world. It provides a forum for knowledge sharing and collaboration among an international community of students, academics, wildlife rehabilitators, consultants, government scientists, conservation organisations and industry representatives. The conference will offer four days of exciting talks and one day dedicated to capacity building and collaborative workshops. There will also be a welcome mixer, an inclusive Gala Dinner and a Bat Trivia Night. In addition, there will be bat watching trips during and after the conference, plus longer post-conference field trips showcasing this amazing region! |
LocationThe 20th IBRC will be held in Cairns (Gimuy), a tropical city in Northern Queensland, Australia. Nestled between the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest and the Atherton Tablelands, Cairns is a haven for nature lovers.
The country on which Cairns sits is home to Traditional Owners from a range of peoples including Djabugay; Yirriganydji; Bulwai, Gimuy Walubara Yidinji; Bundabarra and Wadjanbarra Yidinji; Mandingalbay Yidinji; Gunggandji; Dulabed and Malanbara Yidinji; Wanyurr Majay; Mamu and Ngadjonjii peoples. Visiting Cairns provides an opportunity to explore First Nation's culture, history, art and stories. Northern Queensland is exceptionally diverse in bat fauna, with approximately 90 species of bat found in the region! The conference will be held at the Cairns Convention Centre, a newly-built state-of-art venue, located right in the centre of the city. |
