Bracken Cave Tour - FREE (Booking Required in Advance)
4:00 - 10:30pm, Bus leaves from Conference Hotel
Tour the world famous Bracken cave, home to more than 20 million Mexican Free-Tailed Bats (Tadarida brasiliensis), making it one of the largest concentrations of mammals on earth. Watch the emergence of these millions of bats from rustic wooden benches in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, as they spiral out of the cave at dusk for their nightly insect hunt. Your packed dinner is included! Please wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to enjoy the bat emergence outside.

Tours of Austin Bat Refuge - Tickets Required in Advance
10:00am & 2:00pm, Carshare from hotel to refuge
Explore the Austin Bat Refuge where orphaned and injured bats from all over central Texas are rehabilitated prior to release back into the wild. See the moth-attracting aviary where bats can fly, hunt, and drink on the wing. Tour the rehabilitation facility, learn about husbandry and rehabilitation techniques, and meet several species of native Texas bats.
IBRC 2022 Welcome Reception - FREE
6:00 - 8:00pm, Tadarida (Salon H)
Missed seeing all your bat friends? Kick off IBRC 2022 by reconnecting with old roost mates, make new friends, and celebrate having the bat crew back in one big roost! Refreshments are provided and a cash bar will be available.

Join your fellow LGBTQ+ friends as you celebrate diversity in bat research and science! Some drinks will be provided by event organizers. Attendees must RSVP in advance at https://tinyurl.com/NASBR2022. This event is hosted by the NASBR Fruit Bats (NASBR queer affinity space group).
Note: This event is intended for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Come out and celebrate the future of bat research, our students! Attendees are encouraged to chat with students about their current and future research projects, provide academic advice and insights, and welcome new researchers to the bat community. Maybe you'll even meet your future student or supervisor! Refreshments are provided and a cash bar will be available.

Student Fundraiser Boat Cruise - Tickets Required in Advance
6:00 - 10:00pm, Meet at Boat Launch
Join us for an evening to support our students! Enjoy the bat emergence from the Congress Avenue bridge from the fantastic viewpoint of a 75’ double decker boat on the river, including an interpretive presentation from Merlin Tuttle. Boat ticket, food and drink are included in this ~3h cruise. All proceeds go directly to supporting students attending the conference.
